Annual Report Card of Hermon Schools

2016-2017 ESEA Report Cards

November 2017

Dear Hermon Residents:

The federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) requires all states, school districts, and schools to provide annual report cards to parents and communities. The Elementary and Secondary Education Act as amended and formerly known as the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act was reauthorized as the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).  The data provided within these report cards serves to inform parents, as well as, the schools and district as to how we are meeting the requirements of the federal ESEA legislation.  These reports provide information on the progress of students and schools on indicators of student achievement, graduation rates and the professional qualifications of teachers in the district.

The achievement data contained in the 2016-17 Report Cards, as provide by the Maine Department of Education, is 2015-16 Maine Educational Assessment (MEA) data complied from the spring 2016 administration of the state accountability tests administered in grades 3-8 and in the student’s third year of high school. No individual school accountability status was determined based on this data.

In addition to the State provided Report Cards or accountability reports, a brief summary report on how our schools performed on the 2017 administration of the Maine Educational Assessment (MEA) is also provided for you. Should you wish further information you can log on to the Maine Assessment and Accountability Reporting System (MAARS) Public Portal (https://lms.backpack.education/public/maine).

We hope you find this information helpful. If you have questions about the ESEA Report Cards or the data presented, please contact your child’s principal or Gail Gordon, Curriculum Coordinator at 848-4000 x 6004.
