Dear Hermon Residents:
The federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB) requires all states, school districts, and schools to provide annual report cards that shares the achievement of its students to parents and communities. The report also provides information on the “highly qualified” status of teachers in the district. The data provided within the report card serves to inform parents, as well as, the schools and district on improvement initiatives.
The achievement data contained in the 2015-16 Report Card is 2014-15 MEA data complied from the spring 2015 administration of the state accountability tests administered in grades 3-8 and in the student’s third year of high school. No individual school accountability status was determined based on this data. Beginning in 2016-17, a new accountability system for schools and school districts will be implemented.
As you review the data in the 2015-16 Report Card, you will see the 2012-13 statewide results from the grade four and grade eight National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) reading and mathematics assessments. Administration of the NAEP is through random selection and schools do not receive individual results. The results shown are state and national data.
We hope you find this information helpful. If you have questions about the NCLB Report Card or the data presented, please contact your child’s principal or Gail Gordon, Curriculum Coordinator at 848-4000 Ext. 6004.
