History of Tax Dates etc. from 1982 to Present

Town Clerk To the Citizens of Hermon, The Deputy Clerks and I wear many hats. Among them, we preserve Town records to the best of our ability. We are the local agent for Animal Control, Inland Fisheries & Wildlife, and Motor Vehicles. We usually have a Notary Public on duty. We are responsible for elections. We are the most likely to answer your calls to the Town Office or greet you when you come to the office. The Town Manager is the General Assistance Administrator but as Deputy GA Administrator, I am the person likely to process applications and interview the applicants. I have been fortunate to be the Town Clerk for just over 9 years and in those 9 years there have been many changes to the way we do business. Most notable are the advances in technology. The fact that you are reading this online is a testament to that fact. We did not have a website when I came in 1993 and I am not sure that I even knew what a website was at that time. Many of the services that we provide can now be done online directly to the responsible State agency, for example re-registering a motor vehicle, re-registering ATV's and snowmobiles, purchasing Hunting & Fishing licenses and renewing your dogs license. Some people find the online services favorable because they can pay by credit card (the Town Office accepts only cash or checks). Talk of future online services includes property tax collections. As many of you know, the front office of the municipal building was recently renovated. We are delighted with the results and want to thank everyone for their comments on the improvements. One of my wishes as Town Clerk is to see more people attend Council and Town Meetings. The Council is elected by the Public and these meetings are the forum where issues and concerns can be addressed. Please accept my personal invitation to attend a Council meeting sometime soon.
