A Strong Business Climate

Helping Your Business To Prosper

Hermon welcomes business. We recognize that our community will only be as strong and viable as the commercial and industrial enterprises located here. So we have taken specific steps to make sure that Hermon responds to the needs of new or expanding businesses. These include:

  • Low Taxes: Hermon's property tax rate is one of the lowest in the region, and much lower than the tax rates in more heavily developed communities that also offer direct access to Interstate 95.

  • A Speedy Approval Process: Hermon's recently revised Comprehensive Land Use Plan and ordinances streamline the project approval process. Permitted uses often require no planning board review.
  • Cutting Edge Technology: Hermon has made a strong commitment to ensuring that local businesses have the best available communications services. Hermon also provides all residents and local businesses with free, unlimited access to the Internet (see World Class Communications).
  • A History of Success: Hermon has aggressively pursued commercial and industrial development for the past twenty-five years. Freedom Industrial Park, the town's first economic development initiative, is now home to over 70 businesses in 55 buildings. The Coldbrook Business Park opened in 2000 and is already home to four businesses. The location is adjacent to 1-95 and is very active as a trucking and distribution center for the entire region. Hermon's third business park, Pinewood Park, received approval in 2002 and is located on Route 2 adjacent to Freedom Park. Pinewood currently has six lots available (see the flyer on Available Building Sites).

"The people of Hermon are great to do business with. They're friendly. They're very helpful. Hermon is the place to be!"     ~Len Cole, XL Golf
