Girls in Aviation

On Friday, September 19th, a group of our Hermon Middle School students had the incredible opportunity to take part in the very first Girls in Aviation Day at Bangor International Airport (BGR). Alongside students from Brewer Community School, our girls were treated to a true VIP experience!

They toured LifeFlight of Maine, Maine Instrument Flight, and Maine Army Aviation, and even enjoyed a lunch similar to what you might find on a privately chartered flight (yes—Biscoff cookies included 😉).

The goal of this event was to inspire young women to explore the many exciting career paths in aviation and to remind them that the sky truly is the limit. We are so proud of the curiosity, confidence, and leadership our students showed throughout the day, and we’re thankful for the families and educators who continue to encourage them to reach their goals.

We also extend our gratitude to the many community partners who made this day possible, including Challenger Learning Center of Maine, Women in Aviation Eleanor Spear Chapter, and BGR Operations Manager Beth Martin.
